Braun Intertec is seeking a Engineer-in-Training to join our Lubbock, TX office. This is an entry-level position to the engineering practice performing construction materials and engineering assignments under the direction of a professional engineer. Also, develops solutions, makes recommendations, and prepares engineering reports for review.


  • Perform various field and laboratory tests on soils, concrete and aggregate materials

  • Prepares various levels of reporting responsibilities depending on the scope of services of a project

  • Reviews observation and test data for accuracy and completeness

  • Assists with training as needed

  • Works independently on job site

  • Works with project engineers and client to ensure that client specifications are followed

  • Under close and frequent supervision, incumbent assists Engineers by performing the routine aspects of civil engineering assignments, subsequently providing familiarity with the programs, staff, and operating procedures of the company

  • Performs civil design calculations (i.e. grading, drainage, paving, geometric design, utility design, etc.), sketches, technical comparisons and similar technical work as required by assignment

  • Makes engineering calculations using standard formulas and computer software

  • Coordinates project assignments with those of other engineers and technicians within the discipline group

  • Reviews drawings supplies by vendors, clients, and engineers and architects and recommends necessary changes

  • Develops solutions, makes recommendations, and prepares engineering reports for review

  • Makes engineering calculations using standard formulas and computer software

  • Works independently on specific assignments of limited scope and with engineers and paraprofessionals on larger projects as a team member

  • Prepares field reports documenting contractors work methods, test results, and the interpretation of these tests

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with geotechnical or environmental

  • 1 to 2 yrs previous work experience in a construction related environment and/or Materials testing experience highly preferred

  • Client relationship building

  • Ability to travel up to 50%

  • A valid driver license with clean driving history

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

  • Possess EIT certification
