General Transportation Tech I:Performs entry-level work related to transportation activities such as construction inspection; routine and contract maintenance inspection; material and process inspection; laboratory testing; drafting; traffic and accident data collection; surveying; pavement data collection and evaluation; and/or basic roadway maintenance and repair; light and heavy equipment operation; preventive and minor maintenance on equipment; assisting with traffic control and helping the public during emergency situations.;; Work requires contact with private entities.; Employees at this level perform assignments following specific instructions and are subject to frequent review by the immediate supervisor.General Transportation Tech II:Performs routine work related to transportation activities such as construction inspection; routine and contract maintenance inspection; material and process inspection; laboratory testing; calculations; drafting; design; traffic and accident data collection; surveying and the use of surveying equipment, pavement data collection and evaluation; bridge inspection; construction record-keeping; plan review; Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E) processing; skilled roadway maintenance and repair; light and heavy equipment operation; preventive and minor maintenance on equipment; traffic control; helping the public during emergency situations; and training other employees. Work requires contact with private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.; NOTE: See Education and Experience comment regarding bridge inspection work.General Transportation Tech III:Performs skilled work related to transportation activities such as construction inspection; routine, non-routine and contract maintenance inspection; material and process inspection; laboratory testing; calculations; drafting; design; traffic and accident data collection and analysis; speed zone studies and preparation of speed zone maps; surveying and the use of surveying equipment, pavement data collection and evaluation; bridge inspection; construction record-keeping; plan review; Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E) processing; highly-skilled roadway maintenance and repair; light and heavy equipment operation; preventive and minor maintenance on equipment, traffic control; helping the public during emergency situations; and training other employees.
