LCRA Engineering Intern IV in Austin, Texas
The preferred candidate will be a recent Engineering graduate. This internship may have the opportunity to convert to regular employment.
At an entry level, provides support and maintenance for the Generation Management System (GMS) used to dispatch LCRA’s generation and load assets in the ERCOT electricity market.. Provides support for real-time GMS applications and real-time databases, including system configurations, monitoring of telemetry, communication protocols, and Automatic Generation Control (AGC). Responds to real-time mission critical generation desk requests and participates in trouble shooting, problem solving, and system restoration tasks. This position develops competence by performing structured work assignments and receives instruction, guidance and direction from supervisor, manager and/or more experienced colleagues.
The candidate will focus on following activities and projects.
Start developing requirement document for FY Commercial operation projects to support SOW development efforts.
Develop visio drawings of Mission Critical Systems to assist with system architecture development efforts.
Learn LCRA’s Generation Management System to provide 24x7 support for mission critical system operations.
Learn regulatory compliance requirements associated with Commercial Operational System and develop evidence documenatation.
Develop various calculations using C, .Net and Java to integrate the business systems needs.
Develop SCADA GUI Displays and enhance LCRA’s Generation Management System.
Learn and understand LCRA’s QSE operation and support Gen Desk on their day to day needs.
Perform Cyber Security Validation and maintenance tasks as assigned.
