Airgas Usa LLC Project Manager (Entry Level) - Houston, TX in Houston, Texas

JOB SUMMARY: The* Project Manager*(entry level) is responsible for the development and execution of standard onsite projects for the Airgas Merchant Gases division of Airgas LLC. The Project Manager validates project budgets, develops design packages, submits bid packages, completes procurement and manages the construction and commissioning of standard onsite installations. The position will be located in Houston, Texas and reports to the FLOXAL Engineering Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES: Safety and Regulatory Compliance •Ensure equipment is installed in compliance with local, federal, and Corporate Policies. •Promotes and develops safe work behaviors. Provides direct coaching to improve safety behaviors resulting in an improved safety culture. •Ensure all projects are managed in compliance with the Corporate Health, Safety, Environmental and Security (HSES) policies including pre start up safety reviews and management of change procedures. •Ensures all applicable regulatory (OSHA, FDA, EPA) requirements are met and applicable training and recordkeeping is performed to meet departmental and location deadlines.

Project Development •Participate in on site customer meetings to establish technical criteria. •Interface with project stakeholders to ensure alignment of design, scope of work, and execution strategy. •Validate capital estimates provided by technical team.

Engineering •Coordinate site visits as required to survey local conditions and secure information for preparation of detailed engineering package (PFDs, P&IDs, Site Layout Drawings, and Plot Plans etc.). •Create engineering document packages including P&IDs, Electrical single lines, and site layout drawings. •Prefer knowledge about sizing backup systems, including specifying tank volume and vaporization capacity. •Create, modify, or apply existing specifications to ensure functional requirements are met at the lowest cost, avoiding purchase of over-designed equipment or excess functionality. •Obtain Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) approval of the final engineering solution. •Participate in evaluation/selection of third party engineering firms as preferred suppliers. •Prepare documentation hand off packages for the operational team.

Project Delivery •Ensure projects are delivered effectively and efficiently, on schedule and within budget. •Apply Project Management System tools and techniques to ensure all signed projects are safely executed to completion including on schedule, within budget, meeting contract requirements, and billing setup. •Actively follow, maintain and update the project execution plans, including risks and opportunities. •Coordinate with operation & reliability manager and local service manager to manage on site construction activities, providing complete oversight during the installation and through the startup phase of the projects. •Provide management reports including progressive project status reporting and expenditure forecasts. •Ensure project is closed properly, including project document preparation, processing of purchasing invoices, and document transfer to the operating staff. •Participate in lessons learned sessions to assist with settlement of disputes, claims, and promote continuous improvement and best project management practices.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE •Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering discipline – Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering. •Entry level to intermediate experience is desired. •Demonstrated experience with managing projects from cradle to grave and understand all of the related challenges in the entire project life cycle. •General knowledge of project management tools/techniques, such as scope definition and changes, project scheduling, critical path, estimating, budgeting, reporting and cost control. •Familiar with skidded equipment using compression, refrigeration, purification, instrumentation, electrical, and controls in use by major industrial gas suppliers.



TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: •Frequently (35% of work time).

COMPUTER SKILLS: •Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). •Prefer knowledge of Microsoft Project with schedule management skills for preparation of Gantt Charts. •Proficient in AutoCAD with drafting skills for preparation of P&ID’s, electrical one line diagram and site layout drawings. •Basic knowledge of Google Sheets.

*CRITICAL SKILLS: * •Demonstrates personal integrity and transparency. •Demonstrates ability to make sound judgment, timely decisions, manage multiple tasks and prioritize/delegate work effectively. •Demonstrates ability to effectively communicate with project stakeholders; fluent in English – both written and spoken. •Working knowledge of ISA symbols as required for P&IDs and site layout drawings. •Working knowledge of applicable construction codes including: National Electrical code, UL, International Fire Code, International Building Code, OSHA, Life Safety codes, ASME standards, and CGA standards.



CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: •Project Management Professional (PMP) certification desired.
