The Vertex Companies, Inc. is looking for an Environmental Remediation, Staff Scientist/Engineer to join our team in Irving, Texas.
The individual we are looking for will enjoy the challenge of working on multiple projects on a fast-paced schedule, working with Senior Staff to assess sites across the country, and provide field oversight on a variety of projects. More specific details are described below.
Conduct field investigation and remediation activities
Collect soil, groundwater, soil gas, and indoor air samples
Tabulate and analyze laboratory and engineering data
Prepare regulatory and summary reports for Senior review
Coordinate and oversee subcontractor activities
Conduct Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
Prepare and implement Health and Safety Plans
Make employee safety a priority both in-house and on-site, in accordance with corporate policy
Represent VERTEX to the client in a professional manner
Frequent travel and/or field work (valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required)
Able to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with co-workers, clients, and subcontractors
Able to work with minimal oversight and take direction from Senior Staff
Able to meet deadlines, both internally and externally
Perform other project duties as assigned by Senior Staff
Experience in the execution of Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, Phase II Subsurface Investigations, and remediation
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or related environmental field
- Entry level to five years of experience conducting environmental assessment activities and associated permitting, including report writing and executing field programs
Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge of computer operations and standard software packages required (word processing, spreadsheets, Adobe)
Working knowledge of ArcGIS, AutoCAD, etc. a plus
Position requires Health & Safety Certification pursuant to OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 (HAZWOPER 40 Hour)
Position requires Health & Safety for Construction training pursuant to OSHA 29 CFR 1926 (OSHA 10)
Training provided if necessary
Walk job sites during inspections, sometimes on uneven terrain
Carry field testing equipment (up to 30 pounds) onto job sites with regularity
